Anythink Libraries has opened a Nature Library in Colorado’s Adams County, offering free access to books and outdoor equipment. The project aims to reduce barriers that can prevent people from exploring the natural world close to home.

Its collection includes around forty thousand items and eight hundred and fifty nature-focused kits. Members can borrow equipment associated with birdwatching, gardening, wildlife observation and hiking, as well as tools for closer scientific exploration.

Executive director Mark Fink argues that experiencing nature need not require a long mountain camping trip. The library links information with the means to try an activity, turning the borrowing model towards practical engagement with local plants, wildlife and outdoor spaces rather than only reading about them.
