Apple has introduced HomeView, a seven-inch smart-home display designed for a wall or tabletop. The device is intended to control equipment such as doorbells, thermostats and locks while demonstrating an upgraded version of Siri.

The announced starting price is two hundred and ninety-nine dollars, with availability expected from 13 November. Facial recognition forms part of the proposed feature set, and the launch comes alongside updates to other home products.

The report places the device in a competitive market that includes Amazon’s established speakers and security hardware. The announcement describes Apple’s plans rather than an independent performance test: buyers will still need to assess compatibility, actual functions and availability when the product reaches the market.
