Richarlison scored for Tottenham’s under-21 side in a 2–2 EFL Trophy draw at Cheltenham. The Brazilian forward also converted his penalty in the shootout, although Spurs lost that contest 7–6.
The appearance followed a period outside Tottenham’s senior plans. Richarlison had been omitted from the club’s Premier League squad list, and attempted moves elsewhere had not been completed. Playing with the academy team gave him a competitive outing while his first-team position remained uncertain.
Cheltenham manager Steve Cotterill praised the striker’s approach, saying his involvement offered younger players experience against a top-level opponent. Richarlison scored in the 56th minute and celebrated with the academy players. The match restored an opportunity to play, without resolving the broader question of his future at Tottenham.
