Netflix has released the first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew. The film draws on CS Lewis’s story of Digory and Polly, two children who encounter gateways to other worlds and witness Narnia’s beginning.

The preview introduces Daniel Craig as Andrew Ketterley and Emma Mackey as Jadis, with Meryl Streep voicing Aslan. Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven accompanies the trailer. Gerwig said the books had been important to her since childhood and explained that she sought permission from the band for the music.

An eight-week cinema window is planned from 12 February, followed by Netflix streaming from 2 April. The release strategy places a large-screen launch before home viewing, reflecting Gerwig’s stated interest in making the fantasy adventure for theatrical presentation.
